Abstract

Recently, computer-aided design and computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) is largely applied in product development cycle due to the accelerated development of digitalization technologies. Owing to the technical application of CAD/CAM tool in the industry, enterprises have progressively changed their traditional approaches to design and manufacture of products. Proper Application of the CAD/CAM tools in production stages minimizes to a greater extent the production cost, lead time and delivers good quality products.
The CAD environment provides capabilities of designing product 3D model by feature-based design and obtaining product data. The product digital model is displayed in the modeling environment before transferring it downstream to the manufacturing module. The CAM environment gives the use of software to control machine tools and related ones in the manufacturing of work piece. In this paper, the CAD/CAM technology was briefly introduced and the CAD/CAM tools were applied in modeling and manufacturing of the plastic part.
